If your teeth especially your back teeth feel as smooth as glass, it may sound appealing, but, sorry to say, it is not a good sign. It may, indeed, be a warning sign of bone loss (osteoporosis). It can also be a telltale sign of the eating disorder bulimia. Repeated vomiting bathes teeth in stomach acid, eroding their protective eanmel. In fact, nearly 90% of bulimics have signs of tooth erosion.
Mouth related signs of eating disorders include:
- Swollen salivary glands
- Changes in tooth color, shape, and length
- Brittl teeth
- Translucent Teeth
- Red, dry, cracked lips
- Bad breath
